Coax Jumpers and Assemblies

Effective July of 2018, we have taken production of ALL of our coax jumpers in-house. Here's a bit of background for you. Although for many years we have built our premium cables (primarily BuryFlex™, USA-400™, and USA-240™), we have depended on an outside supplier for standard USA-8X™ and USA-213™ cables. They recently informed us that they would cease production. As in many areas, cheap cable from China was increasingly difficult to compete with.

From day one, the first rule at Quicksilver Radio has been:

"If we would not use it in our own station, we will not offer it for sale."

And quite honestly, those cheap Chinese cables just don't make the cut.

We've also taken the opportunity to upgrade the specs on all of our cables. Better coax, and (in most cases) silver/teflon, high tolerance machined connectors mean you get a better cable than ever.

For similar reasons, we will no longer build short jumpers with RG-213. For lengths less than about 18 feet or so there is at best a negligible advantage to the larger cable as opposed to our USA-8X or USA-240. In those installations requiring higher power handling or absolutely the least loss possible, we offer and highly recommend our BuryFlex in shorter lengths as well as longer ones. Examples include a short jumper from the output of an amplifier to a high-power tuner or SWR meter, or inter connections for SSB/CW UHF stations.

Due to its stiffness, USA-400™ is typically not the best choice for short jumpers. But we will continue to offer it in longer assemblies for those installations that can benefit from its lowest-in-class loss.
